An In-Depth Look at Performer Miki Umetsu
“Standing at a 10-Year Milestone: Where the Performer Stands Today”

Miki Umetsu is a truly one-of-a-kind performer whose diverse range of activities makes it impossible to look away—from acting to writing columns and novels, to their work as a writer for the theater group Gengishi, and the painting and collage art showcased in the ZINE “Toge.”

For the first time, we are bringing this annual photo shoot and interview, which documents “Where Miki Umetsu Stands Today” to the pages of “CONTINUE,” continuing a series that has appeared four times in the sister publication “GIRLS CONTINUE” (previous issues: “GIRLS CONTINUE” Vol.3, Vol.7, Vol.10, Vol.13).

2025 was a year of many challenges, beginning with the lead role in the stage production of “Touken Ranbu,” which served as a catalyst for expanding the scope of Umetsu’s activities, followed by a solo performance and the third production by Gengishi. It was also a milestone year, marking Umetsu’s 10th anniversary in the entertainment industry.

2025 is an essential year to discuss when talking about Umetsu’s activities. What is Umetsu’s current position, revealed by looking back at themselves 10 years ago? We sat down with them again this year for an in-depth conversation.

In the new photo shoot, we captured Umetsu enjoying “ink and paper art,” sharpening their mind while grinding ink and letting their brush glide freely as their heart led.

Be sure to enjoy the many photos showcasing Umetsu’s signature style, pairing a black kimono with a blue mandarin-collar blouse, and their beautiful, graceful movements.

The 33rd installment of the serialized column “Zanki 1” is also included!
